Friendship Academy, Shreveport (FA) was a school on the west side of Shreveport (Caddo Parish), Louisiana with classes K-12. It operated from 1970 until 1985; and was one of several small schools of its type in the Shreveport-Bossier area and throughout Louisiana during that period. Several Shreveport families in the oil and gas industry directly contributed to the school's success. The primary benefactors included Barnwell Oil and Gas Student ACT scores and National Test Averages were acknowledged in the top tier of all schools in Shreveport from 1980 until 1984 by the Shreveport Journal in a May 1984 edition, with seventy five percent of all students in those years receiving College scholarships for academic achievement. Friendship Academy during its time produced four appointments to United States Military Academies, one Miss Shreveport, one Miss Louisiana Tech, two All City Football players, one All City Basketball player, Regional Science Fair winners, National Science Fair finalists, Louisiana School of Excellence Award, Louisiana High School Journalism Editorial winners, Shreveport Amateur Golf Tournament Champion, Louisiana State Track Championship participants, Shreveport Meet of Champions Track participants, Louisiana Basketball and Football All Star Games, Shreveport Times High School Journalism Excellence Award, Masons Award Winner for Patriotism,and sent graduates to colleges in twenty five states. Former students include Oil men, a nationally recognized eye surgeon, a Fortune 500 Flight Department manager, President of National Insurance company, several physicians, teachers, and military veterans. == History == *1969 Friendship Baptist Church School on Winderweedle Road west of Shreveport, Louisiana. *1970 West Shreveport Academy (WSA) was founded by a group of families from the west side of Shreveport. *1971 WSA and Friendship Academy merged. *1971 First varsity girls and boys basketball teams *1973 First varsity football team 〔FA Yearbook Staff.
